design

While designing a backpage, I like to think that the medium of portrayal is just as important as the information itself. If a design does not captivate the reader at first glance, the reader feels no obligation to look further. In fact, design in and of itself is a form of art. I love playing with color patterns and the organization of elements in order to best represent the ideas I wish to convey—crafting a thoughtful medium that facilitates coherent thought. See below some examples of my backpage design work.

Here, left, is the cover of the December 2020 edition of the ReMarker. I made the photograph and assisted in the design of the cover. For my work on this spread, I was awarded Honorable Mention Page One Newspaper Design by the University Interscholastic League (UIL).

Further pursuing my passion for storytelling through art and letters, I’m a co-editor-in-chief of the Marque, the school’s literary arts magazine. I oversee the design of 140+ pages of content in the magazine, which is published annually in May.
